Leicester City international round-up: Schmeichel's Denmark cruise to victory, Jonny Evans left out of squad

Kasper Schmeichel was a spectator in Gibraltar as he watched his Denmark side cruise to a 6-0 Euro 2020 qualifying win at the Victoria Stadium.

The Leicester City goalkeeper saw his side canter to a Group D win with Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen on the scoresheet twice for the Danes, with Robert Skov, Thomas Delaney and Christian Gytkjaer also netting.

That result leaves Denmark second with eight points, three behind the Republic of Ireland with 11 points, who drew 1-1 with Switzerland.

Denmark have a game in hand over the Irish, but are a game ahead of the Swiss.

Schmeichel and co travel to Georgia on Tuesday night for their next match.

Elsewhere Jonny Evans, who has played every minute of City’s four Premier League matches so far, wasn’t in the squad for Northern Ireland’s friendly with Luxembourg at Windsor Park.

Evans was called up by Northern Ireland boss Michael O’Neill and will hope to feature in Monday night’s Euro 2020 qualifier with Germany in Belfast.

In fairness, Northern Ireland boss Michael O’Neill named the uncapped Bobby Burns, Alfie McCalmont and Ethan Galbraith on the bench with Evans, Craig Cathcart and Conor Washington not in the squad.

Earlier on, Vontae Daley-Campbell was an unused substitute for England’s Under-19s as they beat Greece 3-1 at St George’s Parl, while Admiral Muskwe started Zimbabwe’s 1-0 World Cup qualifiers defeat to Somalia.
